Kolkata-based Techno Fab Manufacturing Ltd (TMFL) plans to diversify into stainless steel material manufacture and expand its unit at Rourkela.
TMFL is a heavy engineering firm that designs and undertakes turnkey projects, catering to power plant equipment suppliers, the steel industry and coal handling plants.
"The diversification plan is to put up a plant at Durgapur to manufacture stainless steel materials converted from mild steel scrap. To be commissioned in the beginning of next fiscal, it will have a monthly capacity of 30,000 tonnes," TFML Director P S Singhania told PTI.
As part of expansion, the Group is putting up a 750-tonne per month fabrication unit at Rourkela with a thrust on supply fabrication components to power plant equipment. "This plant will go on-stream before end of August this year," he said.
Singhania hoped business volume would double in 2012-13. As against Rs 154 crore clocked in 2011-12, TFML hoped to cross Rs 360 crore in 2012-13, he said.
This figure can be achieved as BHEL Trichy and its other units across India would contribute 60 per cent of volume this fiscal as fabrication and conversion jobs for ongoing projects of thermal power plants installed by BHEL, he said.
Besides, orders are being finalised from Bhilai Steel Plant to commission a blast furnace and Sinter plant.
TFML also hopes to get substantial orders (12,000 to 15,000 tonnes - sub contracting) from NMDC is in the process of putting up a Rs 14,000 crore integrated Steel plant in Chattisgarh, he said.
TFML is a major supplier to BHEL Trichy and has four plants at Chennai, Aandul near Howrah in Kolkata, Jamshedpur and Rourkela with a total installed production capacity of 3,500 tonnes per month.
