Somany Ceramics Q4 net up 6% at Rs 8.4 cr

Tile maker Somany Ceramics reported 6.41% increase in its net profit at Rs 8.46 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2012, mainly on account of robust sales of digital and glazed vitrified tiles.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 7.95 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 Somany Ceramics said in a statement.

Total income of the company stood at Rs 276.25 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2012 as against Rs 238.88 crore for the same period year ago.
The company's board of directors have also recommended a dividend of Rs 0.80 per share on equity shares for the year ended March 31, 2012 it added.
Net profit of the company for the year ended March 2012 stood at Rs 24.75 crore as against Rs 23.43 crore for the corresponding period previous fiscal.
Commenting on the results, Somany Ceramics JMD Abhishek Somany said, "Higher share of revenue from value added products including digital tiles and glazed vitrified tiles helped company reduce the adverse impact of increase in the cost of energy, raw materials, borrowings and rupee depreciation."
The company had total income of Rs 873.23 crore for the year ended March 31, 2012. It was Rs 714.33 crore for the year ago period.
Shares of Somany Ceramics were trading at Rs 42.05 on BSE, down 5.82% from its previous close.
