Jindal Steel & Power leads gainers in 'A' group

Sponge iron maker Jindal Steel & Power surged 25.64% to Rs 11,884.40. It topped the gainers in BSE's A group shares. The stock surged on speculations that the company may announce a bonus issue of shares. However, the company, in a communique to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), clarified that it is presently not considering issue of bonus shares.

Century Enka, which makes polyester industrial yarns, soared 15.38% to Rs 168.45 and stood second among the top gainers in A group.

Optical fiber maker Sterlite Optical Technologies spurted 12.73% to Rs 313.40. It came third among top gainers in A group. The company reported 37.38% rise in net profit to Rs 27.27 crore on 5.51% increase in sales to Rs 400.58 crore in Q2 September 2007 over Q2 September 2006. The company declared the Q2 September 2007 results yesterday, 30 October 2007.

Steel pipes maker Jindal Saw jumped 11.99% to Rs 787.20 and came fourth among top gainers in A group.

Food processing firm Nestle India rose 11.82% to Rs 1,530.00. It was the fifth biggest gainer in A group. The company reported 39.87% rise in net profit to Rs 116.06 crore on 25.47% increase in sales to Rs 906.74 crore in Q3 September 2007 over Q3 September 2006. It declared the results yesterday (30 October 2007).
